Will I have to get a new phone handset if I connect to the nbn™ network?
All Oricom phones supplied for the past 10 years will work. Any other brand of phone should work over an NBN™ fixed line service unless it is a very old rotary dial or pulse dial-based phone.
I will be switching to the nbn™ soon will Oricom phones work with the nbn™?
Yes, all Oricom corded and cordless phones will work when connected to the nbn™ Connection box.
If power fails to my home and I am connected to the nbn™ will my Oricom corded phone work?
WARNING: If connected via the NBN, this product may not be able to make calls during a power outage, please check with your service provider.
Will all existing phone sockets in my home work with the nbn™?
In most cases you will be able to plug a compatible existing phone handset or cordless base station directly into the NBN™ connection box (NTD) “UNI-V” phone port or an Analogue Telephone Adaptor provided by your phone service provider. Ask your preferred phone service provider which port to plug your devices into. Your phone may need a converter or a new cable if it has an old connector plug and your service provider will be able to confirm this. When the service provider technician has completed the installation, and reconnected your phones to the connection box, check that you telephone service is working correctly before he leaves your home.
How do I set up the CARE80S?
Plug the coiled cord into the handset and the socket on the left of the phone. Then plug the telephone line cord into the socket at the back of the phone and into your wall outlet, or into the telephone port of your internet modem or box. For desktop use, raise the two feet under the base.
Can I mount the phone on a wall?
Yes. Fold the two feet under the base, flip the small plastic hanger piece on the base, then drill two 6mm holes 100mm apart. Insert wall plugs and screw in two screws (3.5mm diameter, 30mm long, not supplied). Hang the phone by pulling it downward onto the screws. For comfortable and safe use, don’t mount it higher than 2 metres.
Where should I avoid placing the phone?
It’s designed for indoor use only. Keep it out of damp areas such as bathrooms and laundries, away from direct sunlight and heat, and at least 1 metre from radio equipment like TVs and mobile phones. The operating temperature range is +5°C to +40°C.
How many one-touch memory buttons does it have?
There are 8 in total: six large photo buttons plus M1 and M2. One of the eight can be used as an SOS key, and you can program any number you like into any of them.
How do I program a number into a memory button?
- Pick up the handset and press the Program key.
- Dial the number you want to store.
- Press the memory button you want to assign (a photo key, M1, M2 or SOS).
- Hang up.
We recommend making a test call to confirm the number is saved correctly. To change a number, simply repeat the steps.
How do I add photos to the picture buttons?
Remove the clear cover from the photo button, cut out your chosen photo using the photo cutting guide supplied, place it on the key, and replace the cover. You can also use the supplied SOS label on one of the keys instead of a photo.
How does the amplification work?
Two options are available during a handset call. Standard mode lets you raise or lower the receiver volume across 4 levels. Audio Boost gives extra amplification when you need it: press the Audio Boost key during a call, and press it again to switch it off.
Can I have the audio boost on for every call?
Yes. There’s an AMPLIFY slider on the back of the phone. It’s set to OFF by default; slide it to ON and Audio Boost will activate automatically on every call.
Does it have a speakerphone?
Yes. Press the handsfree key to make or answer calls without lifting the handset. Volume can be adjusted during the call across 8 levels using the up and down volume keys.
