To enjoy an optimal battery life, users are expected to use only authorised chargers on the monitors and cameras. Some other power-consuming activities may cause the battery to drain out quickly. They include:

Setting a High brightness on the Monitor’s LCD

To reduce the brightness, users should follow these steps:

• Press the menu button on the Parent Unit.
• Use the UP and DOWN arrows to search for the brightness icon. Then, click OK.
• With the LEFT and RIGHT arrows, adjust the brightness level to the desired level.
• Tap on the menu button to save and exit.

Setting a High Volume on the Parent Unit.

To reduce the volume level of the Parent Unit:

• Press the Minus (-) button on the side of the monitor until it is reduced to the desired level.

To switch off the Blue LED option from your camera, ensure the targeted camera is paired with your Kodak Smart Home app and that it appears online.

Once these conditions are met, follow the below steps:

•  From your Kodak Smart Home App, press the cogwheel that appears in the bottom right of the camera feed
•  It will give you the settings option; press the arrow in the top right hand to display the options
•  Please scroll down to the Blue Led indicator, and switch it off

What Does VOX Do?

The VOX feature helps to decipher and cut off the white noise. It mutes the Parent unit from reproducing the sounds below the set audio threshold when it is turned on. However, when there is a sound greater than the audio threshold (e.g., a baby crying or a bucket falling, etc.), the audio will play on the parent unit at full volume.

How to Enable the VOX Feature on the Parent Unit

Once the VOX feature is enabled, it is set by default to Level 2. There are three thresholds options to choose from, and each is suitable for the serenity levels of the environment. A noisy area will most appropriately require the Level 3 option, while Level 1 is most suited to a quiet environment.

To enable VOX or set the audio threshold, follow this guide:

• Press the menu button on the Parent Unit.
• Use the  “up” or down” to find. Then, click OK.
• After that, a list of options will appear on the screen. Use the left and right arrow buttons to choose the audio threshold that suits your environment.
• Select OK to confirm the setting.

The VOX will start working one (1) minute after selecting the desired level.

How to Disable the VOX Feature on the Parent Unit

Situations may arise where a parent may decide to turn off the VOX feature. That is quite an easy and quick process. The steps are listed below:

• Click on the menu button on the monitor.
• Use the Up or Down arrows to select the disable icon.
• Press the OK button to disable VOX.

The Baby Unit could be in a dark room, which causes the infra-red illumination to turn on and the picture image to change from color to black and white. When the room becomes brighter, the picture will return to color.

Otherwise, it could be that the camera is set on night vision mode. To remove it, refer to the article titled “How To Turn the Night Vision On/Off.”

The Split Screen feature is now available for the KODAK Cherish C520/C525 Baby Monitor. Please ensure that you have paired your camera via Wi-Fi with the KODAK Smart Home App to get the latest firmware version to enjoy this feature.

How Does the Split Screen Work?

The KODAK Cherish monitor allows users to split-screen and watches rooms simultaneously. The parent unit can connect to four different cameras simultaneously and stream from two on a single screen. The guide below will show you how to apply the split-screen feature on your monitor.

• Press the menu button on the parent unit. It is located on the top right corner of the device with three horizontal lines.
• Use the Up and Down arrows to navigate the split-screen icon and then click OK.
• If there’s only one camera connected, a prompt will appear on the screen. It will bear this message: “Please add one more monitor to use this feature.”
• The screen is divided into two by a horizontal bar. The left side shows the current camera, while the right shows the camera number of other connected cameras.
• Use the Up and Down arrow to choose a camera and select OK to apply it. Users must do this step within 10 seconds.

Split Screen Icon Definition

The split-screen mode usually displays three on-screen icons. This helps give details about which camera is playing background music, which room is noisy, etc. The indicators are listed below:

Sound Indication

The sound indicator resembles a speaker sign. It indicates which camera is playing back music. If none of the cameras are producing audio output at that instant, the icon will not appear on the screen.

Sound Detection

The sound detection sign appears when there is noise in the selected camera room. Hence, parents can easily know when their babies wake up or cry.

Camera Numbers

The camera numbers are the numbering tags attached to each camera. For example, if four cameras are connected to the monitor, parents can choose two rooms to monitor at a time. They could be Camera 1 or  2, 3, or 4. Hence, this indicator shows which baby unit is displayed on the screen.

Important Information When Using this Feature.

The audio of the camera on the left screen has a higher priority on the Parent Unit. Therefore, if both cameras have sound simultaneously, you will hear the audio from the left screen camera, whereas the right camera will show the sound detection icon.

• If the left camera has no sound and the right one does, then the right camera’s audio will play as normal.
• When split-screen mode, talk mode, the microphone button, left and right arrows and the Pan-Tilt-Zoom function (for C525) are disabled on the Parent Unit.
• All battery/temperature alerts (if any) are for the camera selected and shown on the left screen.

Home Mode is a new feature in the Cherish series. Once enabled, it disconnects the Camera from the Wi-Fi Router to connect it directly to the Parent Unit using Radio Frequency. That way, users can continue to monitor their kids even when there is an unexpected power outage* or connection issues.

* Home Mode will not activate for the C525P in the case of a power outage, since the baby camera doesn’t have a built-in battery. 

How to Activate Home Mode

• Press the Menu button.
• Search for the Network Settings icon using the UP button. Then, click “OK.”
• Using the RIGHT arrow, navigate to the Home Mode icon and press “OK.”
• Choose a duration for the home mode feature: Always ON, 12 hours, or 8 hours.

After about 25-30 seconds, the device will switch to Home Mode. The Parent Unit will then connect with the camera.

How to Deactivate Home Mode

Users can easily deactivate the Home Mode by changing modes on the Parent Unit. To change modes, do the following:

• Un-pair your Camera from the Parent Unit.
• Press the menu button > Pair menu.
• Select the Minus (-)  button icon.

Re-enabling Home Mode

To re-enable the Home Mode, users should pair their camera again with the Parent Unit.

• Press and hold the pair button on the camera for 4 seconds then release (until you hear the first beep). That will temporarily exit Home Mode.
• On the camera, press the pair button to start the repairing process.

When you use your Parent unit to stream the camera, you will receive a pop-up message. The notification will ask if you want to stream on Home Mode. Select “YES.”

After exiting Home Mode, the KODAK Smart Home App will show that the camera is online and will resume its live streaming.

Automatic Connectivity Issue Detection

When the Parent Unit detects any possible connectivity issues, disruptions or a high channel sync rate it will display the following message: “Connectivity Issue Detected.”

You will then have the option to switch to Home Mode

Home Mode & the KODAK Smart Home App

When the Home Mode is ON, users will not be able to view the camera on the KODAK Smart Home App. They will have to use the Parent Unit to stream during this time.

Therefore, users that wish to monitor the camera via the App will have to disable Home Mode. Kindly refer to the “How to deactivate Home Mode” section of this article for instructions on how to disable this feature.

Compatibility

Home Mode is available on all KODAK Cherish Baby Monitors with the following firmware versions (or higher updates):

• Camera Firmware v.03.03.78
• Parent unit Firmware v.04.03.0

– The camera will connect to the router daily between 1 pm and 3 pm (13:00 – 15:00) local time to check for any updates.

– The connection range may be shorter when switching from Router to Home mode, as it will depend on the setup of the camera and Parent Unit.

The battery should last up to 4-5 hours, and the device can remain plugged in at all times (when using the original power adapter provided).

Please remove the battery and leave it out for 2 minutes. Afterward, put it back in (ensure it is correctly aligned).

Additionally:

1. Kindly ensure the parent unit is connected to the power source using the provided adapter for 4-5 hours and see if the parent unit works normally.
2. If the issue persists, then please try using the camera’s power adapter (this is to check if the power adapter is faulty).

When using the Split Screen feature, the audio of the camera on the LEFT screen will be played on the Parent Unit. The right-side camera will show the sound detection icon but will not transmit audio.

If there is no sound from the left camera and the right one does, then the RIGHT camera’s audio will play as normal.

The speaker icon only indicates the priority of playing audio from any camera and not for sound detection notification.

The Split screen prioritizes audio from the camera on the LEFT side of the Parent unit screen. If the LEFT camera is silent and the RIGHT camera has audio, the icon will switch to the RIGHT camera. The icon is still displayed on the left camera if both cameras are silent.

Turn OFF your monitor, remove the battery for two minutes. Then, please put the battery back in and turn it ON once more.

1. Ensure the parent unit is connected to the power source using the provided adapter for 4-5 hours and see if the parent unit works normally.
2. If the issue persists, then please try using the camera’s power adapter (this is to check if the power adapter is faulty).

Turn OFF the monitor and remove the battery for two minutes. Afterward, place the battery back in and switch ON the monitor.

1. Kindly ensure the parent unit is connected to the power source using the provided adapter for 4-5 hours and see if the parent unit works normally.
2. If the issue persists, try using the camera’s power adapter (this is to check if the power adapter is faulty).

The Cherish Baby Monitor supports the use of Google Smart Home Assistant for making voice commands. This feature is available on all versions of all Kodak Cherish Baby Monitor cameras that have a firmware version of 03.03.56 and above.

The procedure on how to set up your device with the Google Smart Home Assistant is presented below.

Step 1: Install the Google Home Assistant Device from the app store.

Step 2: Download the Kodak Smart Home app on your phone or tablet.

Step 3:  Pair your Kodak Cherish camera with the mobile device. Please ensure that the camera is online during the setup process.

Step 4: Link your Kodak Account with the Google Home app.

How to Pair Your Kodak Cherish Camera

Pairing the Kodak Cherish Camera is a quick and easy thing to do. The instructions below will guide you on how to go about it.

• Launch the Kodak Smart Home app on your mobile device and go to the Dashboard.
• Tap on Add New Device
• Follow the app on-screen steps to pair the camera with the Wi-Fi network.

How to Link Your Kodak Account With Google Home App

The Google Home application allows users to control multiple cameras from a single device. It also comes with added advantages like giving a voice command in your language. Follow these procedures to link your Kodak Account with Google Home App:

• Launch Google Home App on your phone
• Tap on the Plus (+) sign on the screen’s top left.
• Select “Set up the device,” then “Works with Google.”
• Tap on the Search bar and search for “Kodak Monitor.”
• Choose the appropriate device. Then, sign in using your Kodak Smart home account credentials. Please wait for it to link completely. (That should take a few seconds).
• Go back to Google Home’s homepage.
• Select the Kodak Cherish cameras for each room separately and tap Add to Room.
• Select the room and tap Next.

Now you are ready to Go!

How to Use Your Google Smart Home Assistant 

Users can access the Google Home voice command feature through either of these ways: using smart speakers (Google Home Mini, Google Home Hub, etc.) or the mobile application.

To give a command, users have to start with the initiation phrase “Okay Google.” Then, they can go ahead to give instructions or ask questions. They need to tap on the Mic icon on their screen for those using the mobile app before initiating a command.

Information Heading:

° Users must name each camera connected to the monitor and signify their location ( bedroom, kitchen, etc.) when pairing them.

° Users must ensure that they add the camera name or location when giving commands. An example of a good command is:

“Okay, Google, What’s the temperature level in the Bedroom?”

What Can the Google Smart Assistant

The Google Smart Home Assistant can perform the following functions:

• Ask Questions about Room Temperature and Humidity Level.

The KODAK Cherish Camera has some sensors for measuring common atmospheric properties in the room, like temperature and humidity level. Hence, it can give accurate info about those parameters when asked such questions.

Example: “Okay, Google, What’s the humidity level in the Bedroom?”

• Control the Melodies

The Google Assistant can also help to control Kodak Cherish’s audio player. With this feature, play soothing sounds for their babies. They can also switch between lullabies stored in the storage memory. Added to that, they can mute the audio, record video from the room, etc.

A typical example of such command is:

“Okay, Google, Set the Bedroom to “Melody one.”

• Control the Motion Detection Settings

When monitoring pets and growing babies, this feature may come in handy. It allows you to set the motion setting to different security levels- high, low, disarmed, or disabled.

Such commands usually come in this format:

“Okay, Google, Set the Bedroom to “Low security,” “Medium Security,” “High Security.”

The KODAK Cherish Smart Camera allows users to set the temperatures low and high for their children. If the room temperature reaches those extremes, the alarm will go off. Users can then go to make the room more comfortable for their babies. To set up the temperature limits, follow the steps below:

• Press the menu button.
• Use the UP and DOWN arrows to locate the temperature icon. It looks like a tiny thermometer.
• With the LEFT and RIGHT buttons, select your desired measurement unit- Celsius or Fahrenheit. Then, click OK.
• Again, with the LEFT and RIGHT arrows, adjust the lowest and highest temperature alerts.
• Hit on the menu button to save and exit.

Interference and echo are likely to occur when both units are too close to each other or other electric appliances like a TV, computer, mobile phone, etc.

Ensure the Baby and Parent Unit are not near other electrical equipment, such as a television, computer, or cordless/mobile telephone. Here are possible solutions:

1. Your Baby and Parent Unit may be too close to one another. Move them farther apart.
2. Make sure there are at least 5 feet (1 to 2) meters between the 2 units to avoid audio feedback.

Launch the app,

Go to ‘Device Settings’,

Scroll down to find the camera and parent unit firmware versions listed there.

If a firmware update is available, a message will pop up. Follow the subsequent steps to implement your update.

The recovery code will be used to disable the Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) if you lose access to your authenticator app(Microsoft/Google/VIP) and do not receive the codes which are required to login to the Kodak app from unauthorized devices.

The app automatically provides the recovery code when you enable the 2FA for the first time on your app.

Please enter the Recovery Code (the red secret code that the App provides when a user enables 2FA on your old device – around ten characters) onto the “Verification Code.”

In case the recovery code is also lost, please reach out to us so that we can disable the 2FA. Once the 2FA is disabled, you can log in to the Kodak App and enable it once again.

Please follow the steps given below:

1. Go to the App Store on your device
2. Download the app named “Google Authenticator” or “Microsoft Authenticator.”
3. Log in to the Kodak App on the phone
4. Go to Account Setting -> User Profile -> Two-Factor Authentication
5. Turn ON the Two-Factor Authentication
6. The Kodak App will lead to the Authenticator App.
7. Copy the code back to Kodak app.

This will activate the 2FA feature.

Please follow these steps below to change the Wi-Fi network:

Step 1: Launch the app and go to the Dashboard

Step 2: Tap on Add New Device ( without deleting the current camera)

Step 3: Follow the on-screen instructions to pair the camera.

Once paired, you will see only one camera connected to the new SSID.

Our camera comes with the Lullaby feature.

You can switch it ON or OFF from the Kodak app as well as the Parent unit.

There is an option to change the melody playback duration. To do this, change the playback time to “Until Turned Off” through the Kodak Smart Home app.

Follow the steps given below:

1. Open the device settings on your Kodak Smart Home App
2. Select the camera
3. Click open on the top right-hand side where you see a wheel icon
4. Navigate to the bottom to find – Melody Playback Duration
5. Change the settings to “Until turned Off”

Please follow the steps given below to reset your parent unit:

1. Take out the power adapter
2. Take out the battery inside the monitor
3. Switch off the Parent unit.
4. Insert the battery into the monitor again
5. With the Parent unit Switched Off – Press and hold both the “MENU” and “OK” buttons simultaneously.
6. While holding the two buttons – Switch On the parent unit and wait until the screen displays “Model, FW version, SSID..”
7. Release the “MENU and OK” buttons.
8. Press and hold the MENU button for 6 seconds, then release them
9. The parent unit will reboot in a few seconds.

The Parent unit will now show only the camera that was paired in slot number 1.

You will need to go through the Pairing steps on the parent unit to add any extra cameras.
